MisterrCha’s Favourite Songs of 2016

MisterrCha’s Favourite Songs of 2016

This was well overdue. The only rule for myself was 1 track per album so I didn’t end up just listing proper album tracklistings. (it’s easy to do that). This was difficult, I have to make several revision to the list swapping things in, taking out so forth but this is where it shall stay. Hopefully you discover some new music (or you can smile that a song you like is here). Enjoy!

How Steve Reich’s Work Taught Me Patience and Disclipine

How Steve Reich’s Work Taught Me Patience and Disclipine

Imagine this, you’re stuck in traffic. You’re desperate to get ahead with your journey but your bus goes the long way and makes loads of inconvenient stops which gradually irritate you. All you want is A to B. That’s a metaphor for how I’d imagine someone would feel listen to some of Steve Reich’s music for the first time.…

Hamorabi x Saligo Feed Us Thought on ‘777’

Lyrics explicit, notions deeper than the oceans. Words that plague for a hook. Hamorabi and Saligo set the stage up for a look. Fierce production by Hamorabi (with co production with Saligo) and with crunchy drums and chopped flute and string sections are the backdrop for the eased, charismatic vocals of Haromabi.…

Fjer graces us with ‘Her Turn’

Fjer graces us with ‘Her Turn’

I’ve been watching the trails of wonderful Danish singer Fjer for a while, from covers and EP’s, evolving artistically with each progressive leap. Her Turn makes another new chapter in Fjer’s catalog.

Over skittering hazy production from Lennart Rasmussen that marries cloud rap background with melodies that smile pop accessibility, Her Turn is a great triumph.…

Hip Hop Superproducers of the 2010’s?

Hip Hop Superproducers of the 2010’s?

When you think of your favourite musicians, artists and producers; they all have distinctive aspects that make them who they are. They make sure you know it’s their footprints over the work. Rhythms, cadences, sound selection, mixing, what’s there and what isn’t. You get the drill. You really do.

You Want The Same Thing? I’ll Give You Something New! [written by @MisterrCha]

You want something fast? I’ll give something slower. You want heavy drums? How about no drums. Opposites attract. You can apply that alot, but for now we’ll apply it to trends.
