DROP BOMBS! 18 year old hip-hop recording artist Lotus Taylor released his latest album Re2pectable on Saturday, July 4th. The Cambridge native’s latest project is the follow-up to his LP, Respectable that was released in October, 2014. In just a few short months, Lotus has shown a tremendous amount of growth, and has successfully positioned himself to be considered among the top young artists in the Greater Boston area.
The album features production from ProU’s own J1K, B Leafs from The Brain Collective, Seneca Beats, and others. Lotus also called on some Boston based artists that he has looked up to for years to be featured on the project. Features include Moe Pope of STL GLD, Flash from Natural Born Spitters, and Tim Nihan from ProU. Also featured are fellow Cambridge up-and-comers, Tashawn Taylor and Melz.
From beginning to end, Re2pectable tells the story of a teen grappling with his past while staying focused on the future. Re2pectable is more complete than what you may expect to hear from a teenager. This project takes the listener through conflicts and contradictions that almost anyone can relate to, while depicting both the good things and bad things that Lotus has experienced firsthand. After one listen you will be drawn in by the creative ways that Lotus tells his story. His honesty can only be matched by the passion in which he delivers his lyrics. If this is the future of Boston hip-hop, the future is very bright.
